Sendai Gyutan @ Date no Gyutan Honpo

Q: What makes your Gyutan experience truly unique in Tohoku?

Sendai Gyutan @ Date no Gyutan Honpo

Gyutan is a popular dish in Donburi form, consisting of thinly sliced beef tongue grilled over a charcoal grill. It is usually accompanied by pickled vegetables, oxtail soup and some Miso dipping sauce.  In Tohoku region, we headed straight to the famous Date no Gyutan.

It took quite long as we needed to queue without a booking. We also tried its culinary creations of Gyutan curry, stew or sausage. The fat slices of tongue were sliced into bite-size morsels. The flavorful juices came gushing out from our very first bite. The Gyutan was tender and perfectly cooked with simple seasoning. All the Gyutan dishes served in the restaurant were particularly good!
