Jingisukan, YouYouTei

July 02,2016

Q: What is your highly recommended spot for trying an authentic experience, Jingisukan in Sapporo?

We heard that Jingisukan (Genghis Khan / barbecued mutton) is another unique dish in Sapporo, so this is something that we shouldn’t miss when we were in Hokkaido! It’s a meal that originates from Hokkaido, is all about grilling a lot of lamb meat with other vegetables together like bean sprouts and onions served on a convex metal skillet or grill.

YouYou Tei provides a casual experience of barbecue in the Genghis Khan style. Here, the raw meat is grilled right in front of you too, which should then be taken with the dipping sauce that comes with it. The meat here is of high quality and when you take a bite of it, you notice its tenderness as well as the dipping sauce also has the right balance of sweetness that goes really well with the grilled vegetables too. The meat here truly melts in your mouth. This is truly the place to have our Genghis Khan with a glass of cold beer!
