Crab Buffet, Otaru Unga Shokodou

July 02,2016

Q: Why would you choose to dine in Otaru Unga Shokodou for its king crab buffet? Did you manage to savor plenty of Hokkaido’s seafood specialties over here?

A: Located alongside Otaru Canal in an historical stone building, we have tickled our taste buds with a variety of flavors from about 80 dishes at this all-you- can-eat crab restaurant, including Hokkaido specialties, sushi, salads and desserts. The restaurant serves red king crab and snow crab assortment, salmon roe and salmon marinated in soy sauce, sashimi and rice donburi, and other fresh Hokkaido seafood.

It was irresistible for crab lovers. We managed to feast on the boiled red king crab, snow crab, and horsehair crab. The Red king crab is the most popular for its substantial appearance and ease of eating while snow crab has a delicate sweetness, so it's delicious as is. Horsehair crab is distinctive for offering a balance of both flavor and texture.

The seafood was definitely an undeniable hit. Not forgetting the meal is also complimented all-you-can-drink alcoholic beverages such as beer, Japanese Sake, Shochu, whisky and cocktails, plus non-alcoholic beverages.  By the end of the meal, smiles are sure to be all around. It’s definitely value-for-money which cost around ¥3000 – ¥5000.
