KoedoKawagoe Summer Festival

Posted on Jun 9, 2016

Kawagoe is a historical city which is located only 30 minutes from central Tokyo by train. The old storehouse merchant houses are lined up. You’ll feel as if you’ve travelled back in time to ancient Edo. Kawagoe Hikawa Shrine Enmusubi Furin is an exclusive summer festival from 9 July to 31 August, 2016.
At this festival, wooden strips called tanzaku, onto which the prayers of worshippers have been written, are tied to wind chimes placed in a symbolic area. The Summer Festival is a citizen participation festival held on 30 July and 31 July, 2016. You can see a million Japanese lanterns there. Various events such as parades and dance performances are held at the central urban area.
